Landmarks and Museums

Visit Long Point Centre where exhibits tell the stories of the culture and history of the people of Twillingate and Wild Cove. Tours of the Lighthouse Tower are available seasonally.

 At the Twillingate Museum, you are treated to a sampling of our community’s history and traditions. The Museum, housed in the former Anglican Rectory, was built in 1915. Nearby stands St. Peter’s Anglican Church, one of the oldest wooden churches in Newfoundland. 

 The Durrell Museum is located in the former Arm Lads Brigade building in Twillingate, Newfoundland.  See one of the real life polar bears that floated into Twillingate on the ice pans. 

Experience hundred year old fish stores, stages and flakes. Touch two different Sei whale skeletons. View life from under the sea with the live underwater camera. Learn how to split cod, smell the liver oil and feel the course baleen. 

Explore the art of wooden boat building in the heart of Twillingate, one of the oldest ports in the Province and home to generations of accomplished boat builders.

 The Beothuk dwelled along the coast line of Notre Dame Bay and the Boyd’s Cove Beothuk Intrepretation Centre today marks the site of significant archeological findings.  It is a provincial historic site worth a visit.
